5 More Characters Revealed for SFIV, including the bosses!

Over at the Capcom blog, they have release pics and info for four returning boss characters. We welcome back Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M. Bison back to the acclaimed series. Over in Japan, on their 4th location test, another new character has been revealed, Rufus, the big bad ass. Not a whole lot is known about him, so we expect more information coming soon. This brings the current roster to 16, will there be more characters before the summer release? Only Capcom knows at this point.

EL FUERTE joins the SF4 Cast

MexicanWatch out R. Mika and Tizoc, we have a new Mexican Wrestler to talk about. His name is El Fuerte and he is the 3rd new character leaked onto the web.  One can only assume he is a grappler and will compete with Zangief and Abel for the top grappler spot. This cast gets more and more diverse as we go. Can’t wait to see whats in store down the road. Good Job Capcom!

Now lets see a new build in the wild and see if we can get some motion on this guy. Head out to your local testing stations in Japan and see if you can get SRK some footage, GOGOGO.

Special thanks to IRC where these screens showed up on our radar.

Abel, Crimson Viper, Game Developer Conference, and a SF IV Tournament!

Last week was a busy one for the Street Fighter community. Capcom released information on SFIV’s newest character Abel. This guy has a mysterious background, and is a grappler, so this is big news to all the Gief and Hawk players out there. Abel joins Crimson Viper as the second new character to be publicly known. How many more new characters are out there? Only time will tell.

This week some of the press will get to participate in a Street Fighter IV tournament at the GDC. Look for more information later in the week.

SF4: The original 8

Thats right! Famitsu is reporting that the original world warrior cast is back in Street Fighter 4. They have a crap load of screenshots on their website, to back up their claim. Head on over to Famitsu to check out all the screenshots of the new build. They also have screenshots of the cabinet that is required to play the game.

SF4!

According to Capcom, the build is roughly 50% done. We look forward to a new, refreshing game to play. Game on!

cabinet!

This cabinet looks sweet, might have to buy the whole thing to play at home.

SF IV is 2D!

From 1up.com

Numbers are supposed to be impressive, right? Well, it’s been 10 years, two hardware generations, and about seventeen thousand rumors since the last pure number Street Fighter came around. And today we have the first ever official details on Street Fighter IV.

We don’t blame you if your eyes have already skipped straight to the screenshot on the page (yes, that’s from the game engine). Take your time. But we’ve got some information as well, so the rest of this is probably worth reading when you get a chance.

Though the screenshot doesn’t answer this question outright, we can confirm that the game’s graphics are polygonal but the gameplay is strictly 2D. There will be new moves, locations, and gameplay features, while the standard six button control scheme remains. Ryu and Ken return along with Chun-Li and Dhalsim, but beyond that the character roster is a mystery. And then there’s the issue of what platform(s) the game will end up on, which at this point Capcom is keeping close to its chest (if you search 1UP’s database, you’ll find listings for arcade, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, but those are just guesses based on the graphical quality).

Alot more information can be found in the January 2008 issue of EGM magazine just hitting the stands in the coming days.

Evo Combo Videos Released

EVo Combos Galore!Four extraordinary feature videos were premiered during this year’s Evolution tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.  All Evo2k7 attendees got to watch them as they were shown on the big projectors and the response was overwhelmingly positive.  Each video focuses on a different selection of fighting games and revolves around a unique central premise.  All of them were created by respected veterans from within the combo video community.

As of today, all four videos have been released online and are available for your viewing pleasure.  Those of you who were able to watch them first-hand at Evolution can now take a closer look at every groundbreaking moment.  Those of you who weren’t able to attend will finally get a chance to see what your friends have been talking about for the past week.  Download them all, get some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy.

NKI’s Evolution 2007 Special is neither your typical combo video nor the usual strategy video.  Aptly titled NKI Volume X - Super Turbo Shenanigans, the vid showcases ST’s dirtiest cross-ups and grimiest tricks, so you may need to take a shower after watching it!  Head on over to this thread to discuss it in more detail and get help with incorporating some of those advanced tactics into your character’s gameplan.

Even though it was only a few months ago that Magnetro, Vega Omega, and Dj-B13 coined the group name Inventive Flow, they have already proven themselves to be the premier team of MvC2 technical wizards.  Their newest project, entitled Variable Atmosphere, sets a new standard for elaborate situational madness.  Best of all, each clip has been made available with individual animated breakdowns and explanations, so even those of you who don’t play Marvel have no excuse to be scared.  In case anything in the video still remains a mystery, join the discussion in this thread.

After showing us his editing talents with the innovative Ken vs Gief combo video series, desk went to work on his newest and most elaborate project, Vid of Dreams.  Featuring nearly every classic SFII title including both arcade and console versions, this project not only brings new glitches and setups to the table; it also contains some of the most unbelievable editing to grace the world of combo video making.  Don’t forget to pick up the Leftovers bonus video and share your impressions in this thread.

Nearly two months after we announced the preview trailer here on SRK, Maj has completed his long-awaited SF? Guile Exhibition (Evo2k7 Edition) combo video.  Featuring over a dozen different versions of the classic Street Fighter II character, this project pushes charge time precision to the absolute limit.  For those of you who grew up watching 10th generation copies of TZW video cassettes, this video will definitely bring back memories.  Head over to this thread for some insight on how these combos work or just to share stories about the days of VHS combo movies.
